Indian River State College

The Treasure Coast Public Training Complex is located at Indian River State College (IRSC).  This 43 million training complex is the most comprehensive, technologically advanced public safety training facility in the nation. The complex comprises eight buildings and is spread over fifty acres. This training complex has gained national and international attention for its proactive approach to disaster prevention, response, recovery and relief.  In addition, the Complex enables IRSC to combine numerous public safety disciplines on one campus. These disciplines include criminal justice, fire science, forensics, emergency management, humanitarian assistance, paralegal and human services. This approach allows for one place for a coordinated response to all types of emergencies.

The Mel and Lucy Folbrecht Fire Science Lab

Located within the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex is the Mel and Lucy Folbrecht Fire Science Lab.  Lucy and I built and paid for this lab to provide hands on training for Fire Protection Systems.  All the components in this lab are fully functional and operate together to simulate a real fire scenario.

Where Florida Fire Inspectors and Building Officials Come to Learn

Mel and Lucy with the President of IRSC

The Mel and Lucy Folbrecht Fire Science Lab provides hands on training with a PowerPoint presentation for Fire Inspectors and Building Officials within the state of Florida. These officials are tasked with remaining current on the latest technology and theories regarding Fire Protection Systems.  The facility is designed to provide these officials with everything they need to remain at the top of their game.  The State of Florida recognizes the courses provided at the lab and allows for CEU hours for each participant. But not everyone can travel to our lab. That is why I will travel to just about anywhere in Florida to teach my courses.  This is just one way we give back to our community.
